Frequently Asked Questions of Different Airlines
Here are some airlines that offer unaccompanied minor services:
- JetBlue Unaccompanied Minor Service
- Requires photo identification for both the guardian dropping off and the adult picking up the minor. The adult picking up the minor must be at least 18 years old and have a valid ID. Gate passes are not guaranteed, but you can check availability at the airport ticket counter.
- American Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Service
- Children ages 5–14 must use the unaccompanied minor service, and children ages 15–17 can use it optionally for a fee. The fee is $150 each way, plus taxes, in addition to the ticket price. Children ages 5 and up can travel unaccompanied on flights that don’t change aircraft, while children ages 8–14 can travel unaccompanied on connecting flights.
- Delta Air Lines Unaccompanied Minor Service
- An adult 18 or older must accompany the minor through check-in and pick them up at their destination. You can call Reservations at (800) 325-8847 to book a reservation and determine eligibility.
- KLM Unaccompanied Minor Service
- You must bring your child to the check-in desk at least 2.5 hours before departure and stay at the airport until your child’s flight has departed. You’ll need to provide four printed, signed copies of a form with details of the people bringing and picking up your child.
United Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Service
- If your child doesn’t have to go through customs, you’ll need to get a gate pass at the ticket counter to pick up your child at their arrival gate. You’ll need to be at the gate 30 minutes before their arrival time.
